HOOKSETT, N.H. - Andrew Goduco
(Marlborough, MA) totaled two goals and an assist to lead Southern
New Hampshire University to a 8-3 ECAC Northeast hockey victory
over Nichols College at The Ice Den Monday night. The Penmen
improved to 5-1-1 overall and 4-0-1 in the ECAC. The Bison
are now 6-2-1 and 1-1 in the league.
The Penmen, who are off to their
best start since 2004-05, got a goal and two assists from
Ryan DiBartolomeo (Leominster, MA).
Jon Lizzotte (Winslow, ME) had a goal and an
assist for SNHU, who got two assists apiece from Dave
Carroll (Arlington, MA), Mark Lodge
(Alfred, ME) and Brandon Hammermeister (Calgary,
ALB). Thomas Ohlson (York, ME), Evan
Williams (Gilford, NH), Corey Hamblett
(Milton, VT) and John Frey (Westminster, CO) also
had single goals for the hosts.
Eric Cremer (Chelsea, MI), Matt
Roberts (Merrimac, MA) and Ryan Gervais (Chicago, IL) each had
goals for Nichols.
The Penmen opened up a 2-0 lead
just over six minutes into the game and took that lead into the
first intermission. Southern New Hampshire scored four more
goals in the second to take a 6-0 lead after two periods. The
Bison would not get on the board until 1:02 into the third period,
but notched a pair of power play goals over the final 20 minutes.
Shane Brooks
(Kennebunk, ME) stopped 36 shots for SNHU, which was outshot by
Nichols 39-27. Keith Fink (Easton, MD) had 15 goals over two
periods before Donny Wynia (Minneapolis, MN) and Cory McGlone
(Rochester, NH) split time in the third period.
SNHU returns to action Wednesday
night when it hosts Stonehill College in a Northeast-10 Conference
game. Faceoff at The Ice Den is slated for 7:30 pm.
