MANCHESTER, N.H. -
The Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team took five
of six singles matches en route to a 7-2 Northeast-10 victory over
Franklin Pierce University Sunday afternoon at the SNHU
courts. The Penmen improved to 2-0 overall and in league
play, while it marked the season opener for the Ravens.
The Penmen posted victories in No.
2 through No. 6 singles. Luis Ramirez (San
Cristobal, Venezuela) was a 6-2, 6-4 winner in the No. 2 spot over
Austin Gardella. Mike Riccardi (Londonderry,
NH) and Sam Gould (Londonderry, NH) posted wins at
No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively, and teamed up for a 9-7 win
at second doubles over Max Logan and George Xenakis.
Andrew McFarland
(Windham, ME) was a 6-0, 6-2 winner at No. 5 singles, while
Mark McDonald (North Reading, MA) was a 8-2 winner
in the No. 6 spot. McFarland and Kenny Lin teamed up for a
8-2 win at third doubles.
Southern New Hampshire returns to
action Thursday when it hosts Bentley College in a 5:00 match.
