MANCHESTER, N.H. - Laurie Boland
(Worcester, MA) totaled a goal and an assist as Southern New
Hampshire University posted a 2-0 Northeast-10 women's soccer
victory over Assumption College Wednesday afternoon at Larkin
Field. The Penmen improve to 2-2-1 overall and 1-1 in the
NE-10, while the Greyhounds are now 1-2-1 and 0-1 in the league.
Boland scored the lone goal of the
first half at the 24:48 mark. Freshman Danielle
Courtemanche (Glastonbury, CT) played a ball on the ground
to her right to a streaking Boland, who got past the Greyhound
defense and fired a shot from 12 yards out that beat Assumption
goalkeeper Lauren Matysiak for her first goal of the season.
The Penmen added an insurance goal with just under three minutes to
play when Boland passed a ball up to Lori Robinson
(Bow, NH), who beat three Assumption defenders and got off a
10-yarder that snuck inside the left post.
Stef Young
(Natick, MA) turned away four shots for Southern New Hampshire en
route to her second shutout of the season, while Matysiak made
three saves. SNHU outshot the guests 11-4 on the afternoon.
Southern New Hampshire returns to
action on Saturday when it hosts Pace University in a 1:00 contest
at Larkin Field.
