WOMEN'S SOCCER SHUTS OUT
SETTERS IN OT
BOX SCORE
MANCHESTER, N.H. - A penalty kick by Laurie
Boland (Worcester, MA) 5:49 into the first overtime
session lifted Southern New Hampshire University to a 1-0
Northeast-10 women's soccer victory over Pace University Saturday
afternoon at Larkin Field. The win, the second straight for
the Penmen, improves them to 3-2-1 overall and 2-1 in NE-10 play,
while the Setters are now 2-3-1 overall and 0-2-1 in the league.
Following two scoreless periods,
Boland got the Penmen on the board when she was pulled down in the
box and the officials awarded SNHU a penalty kick. Boland
would take the kick and fired a low liner to the left that snuck
under the arms of diving Pace keeper Alexa D'Agostino (Highland
Mills, NY).
Stef Young
(Natick, MA) registered her second straight shutout for the Penmen
and third of the season by turning away two shots as the hosts
outshot Pace 12-5. D'Agostino turned away five shots for the
Setters.
Southern New Hampshire returns to
action Wednesday (9/12) when it travels to crosstown rival Saint
Anselm College for a 4:00 match.
