HOOKSETT, N.H. - Anthony Libonati
(McMinnville, OR) totaled a goal and an assist as Becker College
scored four times in the third period to take a 5-2 ECAC Northeast
ice hockey victory over Southern New Hampshire University at The
Ice Den Tuesday night. The Hawks improve to 6-8-1 overall and
3-3 in league play, while the Penmen are 8-3-1 overall and 5-1-1 in
the ECAC.
Becker trailed 2-1 going into the
final period but Libonati scored just 22 seconds into the third
period to tie the game at 2-2. He collected a rebound off the
pad of SNHU netminder Matt Courchesne (Bow, NH)
and one-timed it. The Hawks took a 3-2 lead 59 seconds later
when Jared Kersner (Rockville, MD) collected the
puck on a breakaway and fired it top shelf to give Becker the
lead. The guests made it 4-2 at the 7:44 mark on a
Robert Higgins (Grandville, MI) tally and
accounted for the final on an empty netter by Errick
Madern (West Haven, CT) with 26 seconds to play.
The Hawks took a 1-0 lead just 5:34
into the game when Derek Stabile (Sault Ste.
Marie, ONT) scored an unassisted goal. The Penmen would tie
the game just over two minutes later when Thomas
Ohlson (York, ME) scored on a feed from Matt
Farley (Halifax, MA). The game remained tied heading
into the first intermission but the Penmen took a 2-1 lead 7:39
into the middle frame when John Frey (Westminster,
CO) scored his seventh goal of the season.

Stoehr (De Pere, WI) made 36 saves for the Hawks, who were
outshot by SNHU 38-25. Courchesne made 20 saves. Becker
was 1-3 with the power play while the Penmen were 0-7 with the man
advantage.
SNHU returns to action Thursday
when it hosts Curry College in a 7:30 contest at The Ice Den.
