FRAMINGHAM, Mass. - Brandon Sheehan
(Bedford, MA) and Jake Berube (Spotsylvania, VA)
each scored twice to lead Southern New Hampshire University to a
7-2 ice hockey victory over Framingham State College Saturday
afternoon. The Penmen won their third in a row to improve to
4-3, while the Rams are now 0-9-2 on the season.
John Frey
(Westminster, CO) and Troy Maybury (South
Portland, ME) each had a goal and an assist for SNHU, while
Andrew Hildreth (Leominster, MA) had the other
Penmen goal. Bob Bryant (Nashua, NH),
Ryan DiBartolomeo (Leominster, MA) and
Mark Smith (Ronkonkoma, NY) each registered two
assists for SNHU.
Sean Maguire and Joseph Hurley each
had goals for Framingham State.
Maybury got the Penmen on the board
just 3:12 into the game. The game would remain 1-0 until the
17:25 mark when Berube made it 2-0. The Rams got on the board
with one minute left in the period when Hurley scored, his fifth
goal of the season.
The Penmen extended their lead to
4-1 with two goals 46 seconds apart in the second. Berube
scored at the 8:46 mark, the eventual game-winner, while Frey
scored at the 9:30 mark.
Maguire scored on a power play 1:11
into the third period to cut Southern New Hampshire's lead to 4-2,
but Sheehan would score twice in 54 seconds, the first coming at
the 2:32 mark. Hildreth closed out the scoring with 1:25 to
go with his fourth goal of the season.
Todd Rowley
(Billerica, MA) turned aside 30 shots for Southern New Hampshire en
route to the win. Andy Joyce and Ryan Shelley combined to
make 26 saves for Framingham State, which was outshot 33-32.
SNHU returns to action Sunday when
it travels to Nichols College for an 8:30 contest.
