MILTON, Mass. - Host Curry College used
a three-goal outburst over the first 4:01 of the second period en
route to a 5-1 ice hockey victory over Southern New Hampshire
University at Max Ulin Rink Tuesday night. The Colonels
improved to 9-3-1, while the Penmen, who last played on December
14, are now 4-5-0 on the season.
Southern New Hampshire took
advantage of a 5-on-3 situation to take a 1-0 lead 13:03 into the
game. Troy
Maybury (South Portland, ME) would score an unassisted
goal, his eighth of the season for the Penmen. SNHU would
take that lead into the first intermission.
Curry came out firing in the second
period and scored three times in a span of 2:54 early in the second
period. Ross Enmark got the Colonels on the board at the 1:07
mark, then John Williams scored the game-winner just 22 seconds
later. Ryan Barlock would close out the spurt with his fourth
goal of the season at the 4:01 mark, then scored again at the 15:49
mark to make it 4-1.
Williams closed out the scoring
with a power play goal at the 13:16 mark of the third period.
Zach Cardella stopped 11 shots in
goal for Curry en route to the win as the Colonels outshot the
Penmen 42-12. Todd Rowley (Billerica,
MA) made 11 saves in 35:59 of action before being relieved by
Shane
Brooks (Kennebunk, ME), who stopped 24 shots the rest
of the way.
Southern New Hampshire returns home
Thursday when it hosts Franklin Pierce in a 7:30 contest at The Ice
Den.
