MANCHESTER, N.H. - A goal by Teresa
Vercollone 5:40 into the first overtime session lifted Saint
Anselm College to a 1-0 Northeast-10 women's soccer victory over
Southern New Hampshire University at Melucci Field Wednesday
afternoon. The Hawks improve to 7-6-1 overall and 6-5 in the
NE-10, while the Penmen are now 3-10-3 and 1-8-3 in the league.
Vercollone's goal, her fourth of the season, came on a corner
kick. She knocked home a corner kick off the foot of Jackie
McEvoy for the game-winner.
Hawk keeper Jacqueline Cooney made 10 saves en route to the
shutout, while Penmen keeper Stef Young (Natick,
Mass.) also made 10 stops. The Hawks outshot the Penmen 19-14
and had the only two shots of overtime.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Saturday when it
hosts second-ranked and unbeaten Saint Rose in a 1:00 contest at
Larkin Field.
