Women's Soccer Snaps Slide, Rallies to Top Bentley 2-1

BOX SCORE

WALTHAM, Mass. - Ariel Teixeira (Warren, R.I.) scored twice in the second half to lift Southern New Hampshire University to a 2-1, come from behind Northeast-10 women's soccer victory against Bentley University Tuesday afternoon.  With the win, the Penmen snapped a 10-game winless streak and improved to 4-11-3 overall and 2-9-3 in the NE-10, while the Falcons now stand at 6-8-1 overall and 4-8-1 in the league.

Teixeira, who leads the Penmen with 10 goals on the season, got SNHU on the board at the 48:46 mark with a second effort.  Her initial shot was turned aside by Bentley goalie Kara Smith, but Teixeira collected the rebound and fired it home.  Teixeira registered the game-winner in the 77th minute when she took a feed from Danielle Courtemanche (Glastonbury, Conn.) and lifted a shot that snuck inside the near left post out of the reach of Smith.

Bentley took a 1-0 lead midway through the first half when Laura Muise knocked in a left-to-right crossing pass off the foot of Cheryl Boyd.

Stef Young (Natick, Mass.) made two saves in the win for Southern New Hampshire, while Smith finished with three saves.  The Penmen held a slight 13-12 advantage in shots on the afternoon.

Southern New Hampshire closes out Northeast-10 play on Saturday when it travels to Southern Connecticut State University for a 7:00 contest.
