NEW HAVEN, Conn. -
Katrina Cook scored with 1:11 left in regulation to lift the
Southern Connecticut State University Owls to a 1-0 victory over
visiting Southern New Hampshire University Saturday evening.
With the win, the Owls even their record to 8-8-1 overall and 5-8-1
in the Northeast-10, while the loss drops the Penmen to 4-12-3
overall and 2-10-3 in NE-10 play.
Cook would score on a cross to the
middle of the field from teammate Lindsey Stanton, pushing the
game-winning shot past Penmen goalkeeper Stef
Young (Natick, Mass.)
Katie DiDio made three saves in
goal for the Owls before giving way to Olivia Heffernan who was not
forced to make a save in the second half. Young recorded three
saves in net for the Penmen. Southern Connecticut narrowly
outshot Southern New Hampshire 9-7.
The Penmen return to action on
Wednesday, October 28 for the final home game of the season against
non-conference opponent C.W. Post. Game time is slated for
4:00 p.m.
