MANCHESTER, N.H. -
Molly Kessler's goal in the 32nd minute lifted
Assumption College to a 1-0 Northeast-10 women's soccer victory
over Southern New Hampshire University at Larkin Field Saturday
afternoon. The Greyhounds won their third in a row to improve
to 5-4 and 5-3 in the NE-10, while the Penmen are now 3-7-3 and
1-5-3 in the league.
Just past the 31-minute mark, an
initial shot by Assumption's Carina Russo was snuffed out by SNHU
keeper Stef Young (Natick, Mass.). Kessler
collected the rebound and fired it home for the game's lone goal.
Young made a total of four saves,
while her counterpart, Assumption's Lauren Keating, made two saves
en route to the shutout as the Greyhounds outshot the Penmen
8-5. Andrea Wilson's (North Kingstown, R.I.)
two shots on goal were the only shots on goal for the Penmen.
The Penmen return to action at home
on Tuesday as they face the Purple Knights of St. Michael's College
in a 7:00 contest at Larkin Field.
