University skated to a 4-4 overtime tie in Northeast-10 ice hockey
Tuesday night at the Winchendon School Ice Arena. The Penmen
are now 2-1-2 overall and 0-0-1 in the NE-10, while the Ravens are
1-2-2 and 0-0-1 in the league.
SNHU took a 1-0 lead just 33
seconds into the game when Ryan DiBartolomeo
(Leominster, Mass.) scored on assists from Matt
Farley (Halifax, Mass.) and Kent Honeyman
(Marietta, Ga.). The Ravens' Anthony Chighisola would score
twice in eight seconds, his first goal on the power play at 5:14,
and his second at 5:22, to give FPU a 2-1 lead. The hosts
would extend their lead to 3-1 on a goal by Jonathan Schanke 4:42
into the second period.
The Penmen would strike twice in a
17-second span midway through the second period to tie the
game. Brandon Bradley (Wichita, Kansas)
scored on a power play on assists from Troy
Maybury (South Portland, Maine) and DiBartolomeo at the
12:30 mark. William Toomey (Reading, Mass.)
tied the game at 12:47 on assists from Jake Berube
(Spotsylvania, Va.) and Honeyman.
Franklin Pierce would take a 4-3
lead 5:25 into the third frame when Justin Adams scored, but
Adam Ziegler (Medford, Mass.) potted the equalizer
for the Penmen 2:36 later. Farley and Neil
Adams (Gardner, Mass.) added assists on the goal.
Shane Brooks
(Kennebunk, Maine) made 17 saves for Southern New Hampshire as the
Penmen outshot the Ravens 34-21.
Southern New Hampshire returns to
action Saturday night when it entertains Assumption College in a
7:00 Northeast-10 contest at The Ice Den.
