COLCHESTER, Vt. -
The fifth-seeded Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis
team posted its first-ever Northeast-10 Tournament win with a 5-2
win over No. 4 seed Saint Michael's College Wednesday afternoon.
With the win, Southern New
Hampshire (7-4) advances to the NE-10 Semifinals, where it will
visit top-seeded Stonehill College on Friday at 3 p.m. Saint
Michael's sees its season come to a close at 7-8 overall.
For SNHU, junior David
Spaggiari (Manizales, Columbia) and senior Luis
Ramirez (San Cristobal, Venezuela) led the way, as they
earned an 8-4 win at #1 doubles, and posted straight-set victories
at #1 and #2 singles, respectively. Senior Michael
Ricciardi (Londonderry, N.H.) won at #3 singles for the
Penmen, while graduate student Colin Stone (Manchester,
N.H.) sealed the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win at #6 singles.
Stonehill, which posted a perfect
10-0 NE-10 mark during the regular season, defeated the Penmen 8-1
in SNHU's season opener September 20.
