Penmen Fall in Home Opener

HOOKSETT, N.H. – Doug Boulanger (Beauport, Quebec) scored the lone goal for the Penmen as the Southern New Hampshire University men's ice hockey team fell to the Rams of Suffolk University by a 8-1 score Tuesday night.  With the win, the Rams improve to 4-3 overall and the Penmen suffer their fourth loss of the season, falling to 1-4 overall while remaining at 0-1 in Northeast-10 Conference play.

The Penmen held the Rams to one goal in the first period, as Tom Coulstring scored the lone first period marker.  Matt Roberson, Paul Weisser, and Marko Molano recorded second period tallies for Suffolk.

The Rams scored 23 seconds into the third period, as James Chamness scored the first of his two third period goals.  Paul Weisser also recorded his second of the game at 11:28 of the third period and Joe Greene recorded his first goal at 13:14 of the third stanza.

Boulanger recorded the lone Penmen tally of the game at 8:41 of the third period.  An initial shot was taken by Boulanger while crossing the blue line.  The puck caromed off the glass behind the net and trickled to the front where it was forced past Rams goaltender Jeff Rose for the Penmen's lone goal of the contest.

Weisser and Chamness finished with two goals apiece and Coulstring chipped in a goal and an assist in the winning effort.  Jason Molle also assisted on three Rams tallies.

Rose collected the win in goal, halting 26-of-27 shots on net.  Cam Kelley relieved Rose after the final Suffolk goal at 13:14 of the third.  John Carbonneau (Medford, Mass.) was saddled with the loss, halting 16-of-20 shots on goal.  Ryan Gleason (Westford, Mass.) relieved Carbonneau, allowing four goals and making five saves.  Tyler Holske (Attleboro, Mass.) closed out the game for the Penmen, playing the final 6:46.

The Penmen return to action November 27 as they play in the opening game of the PAL/Stovepipe Tournament against the University of New England at home in a 1:30 tilt.
