FOXBORO, Mass. - Host Stonehill College posted a 10-4 Northeast-10 ice hockey victory over Southern New Hampshire University at the Foxboro Sports Center Thursday afternoon. The Skyhawks improved to 9-12-1 overall and 2-6 in the NE-10, while the Penmen are 4-14-3 and 2-6-2 in the league.
Matt Doherty led Stonehill with two goals and two assists, while Angelo Todesca also registered a pair of goals. Pat Greene, Pete Roundy and Andrew Diozzi each finished with three assists for the Skyhawks.
Andrew Hildreth (Leominster, Mass.) led Southern New Hampshire with a goal and an assist, while Anthony Dercole (Hamden, Conn.), Mark Lodge (Alfred, Maine) and Bobby Bryant (Nashua, N.H.) each notched single goals for the Penmen.
Lodge opened the scoring with a short-handed goal 8:19 into the first period, with Ryan DiBartolomeo (Leominster, Mass.) assisting. After Doherty tied the game 2:24 later on a power play, Dercole made it 2-1 on a power play tally at the 11:55 mark. The Skyhawks took a 3-2 lead into the first intermission.
Bryant tied the game 2:43 into the second period on a power play goal, but the Skyhawks scored four times in a 8:20 span to take a 7-3 lead at the 14:42 mark on a goal by Dana Borges. The Skyhawks would score three more times in the first 9:45 of the third to take a 10-3 lead.
Tyler Jackson made 24 saves for Stonehill, while Mike Mastracci (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Shane Brooks (Kennebunk, Maine) combined to make 29 saves for the Penmen as the Skyhawks outshot Southern New Hampshire 39-28.
Southern New Hampshire closes out the regular season with a 4:30 game Saturday against Assumption at The Ice Den.
