HOOKSETT, N.H. - Host Southern New Hampshire
University used a pair of power play goals in the third period to
rally past Assumption College 2-1 in a Northeast-10 hockey game
Saturday evening at The Ice Den. The Penmen improve to 5-14-3
overall and 3-6-2 in the NE-10, while the Greyhounds are now
12-10-1 and 8-2-1 in the league.
Trailing 1-0 entering the third
period, the Penmen got on the board at the 6:03 mark of the frame
when Kent Honeyman (Marietta, Ga.) converted on a
5-on-3 opportunity. Andrew Hildreth
(Leominster, Mass.) and Troy Maybury (South
Portland, Maine) assisted on the goal.
Doug Boulanger
(Beauport, Quebec) registered the game-winner on another power play
with 3:55 remaining. Ryan DiBartolomeo
(Leominster, Mass.) assisted on the goal.
Taylor Larsen scored the lone
Assumption goal with one second remaining in the first
period. Pat O'Kane assisted on the goal.
Shane Brooks
(Kennebunk, Maine) stopped 28 of the 29 shots he faced for Southern
New Hampshire in goal, while Greyhound netminder Nick Blanchette
turned aside 33 SNHU shots as the Penmen outshot Assumption
35-29. SNHU was 2-7 on the power play while killing off all
seven Greyhound chances with the man advantage.
SNHU will be on the road for a
first-round Northeast-10 Tournament game next Saturday, and will
learn its opponent next week.
