Box Score POTSDAM, N.Y.—The Southern New Hampshire University ice hockey team dropped a 14-2 decision to SUNY Potsdam in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Penmen fall to 0-1 on the season, while the win boosts the Bears to 1-1.
Paul Manderfield led the Bears with three goals, while Sy Nutkevitch and added two goals and two assists. Kenny Simon recorded a goal and three assists, while Adam Place dished out three assists for SUNY Potsdam.
Freshmen Dane Caracino (Belmont, Mass.) and John Humphrey (Charlestown, Mass.) tallied goals for the Penmen, who were outshot 48-20 on the afternoon.
After the first period, the score was 2-1 in favor of the Bears, but Potsdam would post an 8-1 scoring advantage in the second period and a 4-0 advantage in the third period to take the win.
Penmen goaltender Tyler Holske (Attleboro, Mass.) took the loss in net and totaled 24 saves while allowing five goals in 28:56 of action. Max Paluszynski (Moorestown, N.J.) played the last 31:04 in net for SNHU and totaled 10 saves.
Kevin McFarland earned the win in net and totaled 13 saves through two full periods. Kevin Weiler tallied five saves in net during the third period for the Bears.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Saturday, November 5 when it hosts Plymouth State University at 7:00 p.m. at the Ice Den.
