Box Score HOOKSETT, N.H.—A four-goal third period led the visiting Worcester State University to a 6-1 non-conference ice hockey win against the Penmen of Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday afternoon in the consolation game of the 2011 Manchester Police Athletic League Stovepipe College Hockey Tournament. With the loss, the Penmen fall to 1-7-1 on the season, while the win boosts the Lancers to 2-3-2.
SNHU's Tyler Pascucci (North Reading, Mass.) would open scoring with his fourth goal of the season 11:45 into the first period, assisted by Chris Hickey (Gilford, N.H.) and Connor Audycki (Bellevue, Wash.).
The Penmen would carry the 1-0 lead into the second frame, where Worcester State would tally two goals by Taylor Laneville and John Cahalane at the 1:16 and 6:00 marks.
Entering the third period with the 2-1 advantage, the Lancers would tally four more goals to solidify the 6-1 win. Worcester State's Curtis Martin finished the game with two goals, while Cahalane and Nick Asterito recorded a goal and two assists apiece.
SNHU goaltender Tyler Holske (Attleboro, Mass.) recorded 21 saves in net for the Penmen, while Lancers goaltender Bryan Kalczynski tallied 18 saves en route to the win. Worcester State outshot SNHU 27-19 on the afternoon and finished 2-for-5 on the power play. SNHU did not score with the extra man in five attempts.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Saturday, December 3 when it hosts Assumption College at 3:05 at the Verizon Wireless Arena in downtown Manchester.
