SYRACUSE, N.Y.– The Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team opened Northeast-10 Conference play with a 9-0 win at Le Moyne College Saturday. The Penmen improved to 1-1 and 1-0 in the NE-10, while it marked the season opener for the Dolphins.
In doubles play, the No. 1 Penmen duo of Juan Arango-Campo (Armenia Quindio, Colombia) and Alex Mukdaprakorn (Hartford, Conn.) needed a tiebreaker to edge Daniel Sullivan and Ken Schiefer, winning the tiebreaker 10-5 to post a 9-8 victory.
Fourth and fifth singles were also tightly contested, with SNHU winning both matches in three sets. Mike Wallace (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) was a 7-6 (7-0), 3-6, 10-4 winner at No. 4, while Jared Wright (Norwell, Mass.) was a 6-4, 3-6, 10-8 winner at No. 5.
Southern New Hampshire plays its home opener on Tuesday when it hosts Assumption College in a 4:00 match.
