Box Score HOOKSETT, N.H. – The Southern New Hampshire ice hockey team was defeated Tuesday night 9-3 by Framingham State University in a non-conference game. With the loss, the Penmen are now 1-3-1, and the Rams are now 1-4.
The Rams got off to a quick start when Jay Nichols scored his third goal of the season just 1:06 into the first period. Daniel Roy would build on the lead when he scored just 45 seconds later to push the lead to 2-0. Roy would connect on another goal at the 13:59 mark for his second tally of the game. Dean Cavicchi closed out the period with a goal of his own with just under two minutes left to make the score 4-0 heading into the second period.
The Penmen would answer halfway through the second period when Jim Gabrione (Boca Raton, Fla.) scored his third goal of the season to put SNHU on the board. Casey Goll (Winthrop, Mass.) would follow Gabrione's goal two minutes later when he scored his first score of the season at the 9:44 mark. However, two Daniel Miressi goals would put the Rams back on top 6-2 to end the second period.
Framingham State would score the next three goals in the third period until a Penmen goal from Dane Caracino (Belmont, Mass.) would be the last goal of the game and the third score for the SNHU.
Tyler Holske (Attleboro, Mass.) would get the loss in goal for the Penmen while making seven saves, and Max Paluszynski (Moorestown, N.J.) recorded 18 saves in two periods. Rams' goalie Herbert Kyles saved 27 shots for Framingham State.
The Penmen return to action Friday, November 30, when continuing their homestand as they host SUNY Canton for an 8:00 p.m. start.
