Hawks Soar to 7-1 Ice Hockey Win Against Penmen

MANCHESTER, N.H.—The Southern New Hampshire University ice hockey team dropped a 7-1 loss to Saint Anselm College on Tuesday afternoon in Northeast-10 conference action at Sullivan Arena.  With the loss, the Penmen fall to 1-18-1 on the season, and 0-9-0 in conference play. The win boosts the Hawks to 9-8-3 overall and 3-0-1 in the conference.


Saint Anselm posted the first goal of the game late in the first period as Johnny Daniels scored at the 15:56 mark in the period.


Entering the second period, Saint Anselm's Greg Merrill scored the game-winning goal at the 4:10 mark. Johnny Daniels would score his second goal of the game just 33 seconds after Merrill's goal. The Penmen would answer when Casey Goll (Winthrop, Mass.) recorded his first collegiate goal. Assisting on the goal was Connor Audycki (Bellevue, Wash).


Saint Anselm notched two more goals before the end of the period to lead the Hawks to a 5-1 advantage over the Penmen. Saint Anselm's goals were scored by Tim King and Eric Czapka at the 18:31 and 18:34 marks, respectively.


The Hawks would score two more goals in the third period to push their lead to 7-1. The Penmen did not have an answer for Saint Anselm's offense. Mike Richard scored at the 6:40 mark while John Hyslip marked his first goal of the season at the 17:55 mark in the period.


SNHU goaltender Tyler Holske (Attleboro, Mass.) posted 45 saves in the loss for the Penmen while Saint Anselm goaltender Robert Kang recorded 19 saves.  The Hawks outshot the Penmen 52-24 on the evening.  Saint Anselm finished 1-for-3 on the power play, while SNHU did not connect with the extra man advantage in three attempts.


Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Saturday, February, 11 when it hosts Stonehill College for a 6:30 conference matchup.
