MANCHESTER, N.H. – Southern New Hampshire University snapped a five-match slide with a 7-2 victory over Chestnut Hill College in men's tennis Saturday afternoon. The Penmen, who entered the match ranked ninth in the East Region, improved to 5-6 overall, while the Griffins, ranked seventh in the region, are now 4-4 overall.
In singles action, Mitch Dobek (Westfield, Mass.) rallied from an early deficit, posting a 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 victory over Mike Humes at No. 1. Juan Arango-Campo (Armenia Quindio, Colombia) needed a tiebreaker to take the first set from Yoann Pham but prevailed at No. 2 7-6 (7-3), 6-3. Alex Mukdaprakorn (Hartford, Conn.), Mike Wallace (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) and Brad Malenich (Sharon, Mass.) all earned singles victories.
In doubles play, Dobek and Wallace were 8-6 winners at No. 2, while Arango-Campo and Mukdaprakorn posted an 8-3n triumph at No. 1.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action on March 27 when it hosts Saint Michael's College in a 3:00 Northeast-10 contest.
