MANCHESTER, N.H. – Third-seeded Southern New Hampshire University posted a 5-0 victory over Le Moyne College in the first round of the Northeast-10 Men's Tennis Championship held Tuesday afternoon at the SNHU courts. The Penmen, ranked sixth in the East Region, improved to 11-8 and now advance to face second-seeded Bentley University Thursday at 2:00 in an NE-10 semifinal in Waltham, Mass. The Dolphins see their season come to a close at 7-9.
The Penmen swept the three doubles matches, with Mitch Dobek (Westfield, Mass.) and Mike Wallace (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) posting an 8-1 win at No. 1, while Juan Arango-Campo (Armenia Quindio, Colombia) and Jared Wright (Norwell, Mass.) were 8-2 winners at No. 2. John Niland (Cheshire, Conn.) and Tim Hamilton (Hampton, N.H.) rallied for a 9-7 triumph at No. 3.
Arango-Campo made it 4-0 with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles, while Dobek clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 1.
SNHU fell 7-2 to Bentley in the two teams' meeting during the regular season, which came this past Saturday.
