Philadelphia, P.A. – The Southern New Hampshire men's tennis team outlasted the Philadelphia University Rams by a score of 6-3 Friday afternoon in non-conference action. The Penmen improve to 4-0 while the Rams are 1-1.
The top three single positions would prevail for SNHU while No. 1 Mitch Dobek (Westfield, Mass.) defeated Ram's Ayman Barakat with a score of 6-2 and 6-3, No. 2 Juan Arango-Campo (Armenia Quindio, Colombia) defeated Dylan Bhaerman by a score of 6-1, 6-0, and Mike Wallace (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) in the third position beat Houston Ward 6-0 and 7-5.
The first and third pairs would notch wins for the Penmen in doubles competition. Dobek and Wallace combined forces to beat Barakat and Bhaerman 8-3 while Arango-Campo and Tim Hamilton (Hampton, N.H.) teamed up and got the win over Matthew Germani and Ward with an 8-1 score.
The Penmen continue to play this weekend at the ITA Regionals in Philadelphia. The tournament begins tomorrow, Saturday, September 22 and will go through Monday, September 24. The tournament will wrap up the fall season for the men's tennis team.
