Box Score MANCHESTER, N.H. – Janie Jannitto scored with 10:03 remaining in regulation to lift Southern Connecticut State University to a 1-0 Northeast-10 women's soccer win over No. 16 Southern New Hampshire University Saturday night at Larkin Field. The Owls improved to 4-2-1 overall and 2-2-1 in the NE-10 with the win, while the Penmen are now 4-3-1 and 2-3-1 in the league.
The hosts carried play for much of the contest, but Jannitto took a pass from Suzane Pires and her blast from 20 yards out curved inside the far left post for the game's only goal.
Katelyn Fortier made three saves en route to the shutout for Southern Connecticut, while Penmen keeper Maggie Weldon (Manchester, N.H.) turned aside one shot. Southern New Hampshire outshot the Owls 14-3 and had the game's only two corner kicks.
Southern New Hampshire is on the road for its next two games, starting with a Wednesday contest at Stonehill College slated for a 4:00 start.
