Assumption's Ross White would score the first goal of the game with 4:42 remaining in the first period. White recorded his fourth goal of the season from Kyle Zobler and Keven Meehan to give the Greyhounds a 1-0 advantage over the Penmen heading into the second period.
The Greyhounds would build on their lead halfway through the second period when Brennan Shaw netted a power play goal at the 9:26 mark. SNHU would answer just three minutes later to cut the deficit to one goal when John Humphrey (Charlestown, Mass.) scored off of a Joe Collins (Mansfield, Mass.) rebound for his fourth goal of the season.
The Penmen would enter the third period trailing the Greyhounds 2-1, but a Charles Wisniewski (Strongsville, Ohio) goal from Jim O'Connor (Arlington, Mass.) at the 12:49 mark would be the equalizer for the Penmen, and would send the game into overtime tied at 2-2.
