Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Eighth-ranked American International College jumped out to a 3-0 lead and posted a 4-0 Northeast-10 women's soccer victory over Southern New Hampshire University at MassMutual Field Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets upped their record to 13-1-1 and 10-1-1 in NE-10 play, while the Penmen are now 7-6-3 and 4-5-3 in the league.
Sonia Basma opened the scoring for AIC in the 14th minute with her 16th goal of the season. Mariah Shade made it 2-0 at the 20:31 mark, while Alyssa Werbicki converted a cross from Caroline Boyce 7:30 before halftime. Ophelie Brevet closed out the scoring with her first goal of the season at the 62:19 mark.
Sam Tabak made a pair of saves en route to the shutout in goal for the Yellow Jackets, while SNHU keeper Samantha Whittier (Sutton, Mass.) recorded eight stops as the hosts held a 21-8 shot advantage on the afternoon. AIC also had six of the game's eight corner kicks.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action Wednesday afternoon at Franklin Pierce University for a 4:00 contest. The Penmen return home Saturday, November 2 when they host the University of New Haven for Senior Night at 7:00 pm.
