Box Score RINDGE, N.H. – Franklin Pierce University netted a goal in each half as it posted a 2-1 Northeast-10 women's soccer victory over Southern New Hampshire University Wednesday afternoon at Sodexo Field. The Ravens up their record to 7-6-3 overall and 6-5-2 in the NE-10, while the Penmen are now 7-7-3 and 4-6-3 in the league.
The hosts got on the board in the 25th minute when Fernanda Marques notched her second goal of the season. Madison Finlay had an initial shot that deflected off SNHU keeper Samantha Whittier (Sutton, Mass.) that Marques collected and fired home. The Ravens carried the 1-0 lead into halftime.
Nicole Chaet made it a 2-0 contest at the 66:51 mark when she took a pass from Hannah Weagle and with Whittier charging out, fired a shot from the top of the box into the lower left corner for her fourth goal of the season.
Ashley Jaskula (Palmer, Mass.) spoiled Franklin Pierce's shutout bid with 56 seconds remaining as she recorded her fifth goal of the season, with Bethi Ledoux (Westborough, Mass.) notching an assist on the play.
Katie Weldon made six saves in goal for Franklin Pierce, while Whittier recorded two stops. The Penmen outshot the Ravens 10-6 on the afternoon while both teams took just one corner kick.
The Penmen return home Saturday (November 2) when they host the University of New Haven for Senior Night at 7:00 pm.
