Box Score MANCHESTER, N.H. – A pair of first half goals propelled the University of New Haven to a 2-0 win over Southern New Hampshire University in Northeast-10 women's soccer Saturday night at Larkin Field. The Chargers upped their record to 10-4-3 overall and 8-4-2 in the NE-10, while the Penmen see their season come to a close at 7-8-3 and 4-7-3 in the league.
The Chargers took a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute when Amanda Hathaway played a long pass over the top of the SNHU defense to Marisa Garcia, who found the center of the net for her second goal of the season. 1:12 before halftime, Maggie Cohoon registered her first goal of the season as she took a back pass in the box from Amber Simms.
Natasha Purchla made nine saves in goal for New Haven en route to the shutout, while Penmen keeper Samantha Whittier (Sutton, Mass.) made one save as the Penmen outshot the Chargers 13-7.
