COLCHESTER, Vt. – The Southern New Hampshire men's tennis team defeated Saint Michael's by a score of 8-1 in Northeast-10 Conference action Tuesday afternoon. The Penmen improve to 9-4 on the season, and remain unbeaten in the league, while the Purple Knights fall to 2-5 and 1-4 in conference play.
The Penmen would sweep in doubles play and take five out of six singles matches on the day.
Mitch Dobek (Westfield, Mass.) and Mike Wallace (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) would lead the Penmen in doubles play as they defeated Eric Parziale and Steve Thompson by a score of 8-3 at the No. 1 spot, while the second and third doubles teams would each defeat the Purple Knights by scores of 8-6.
In singles play, Dobek would earn the win over Parziale at No. 1 singles by a score of 6-4, 6-4, while Juan Arango-Campo (Armenia Quindio, Colombia) would prevail after being tested with a 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) match in No. 2 action against Nick Bosco. The third, fourth, and fifth players would each earn a point for the Penmen, while the Purple Knights would take the No. 6 singles match by a score of 9-7.
The Penmen return to action Saturday, March 30 when they host Adelphi for a 3:00 p.m. league match.
