WALTHAM, Mass. – The Southern New Hampshire men's tennis team was defeated by Bentley University 5-4 in Northeast-10 Conference action Saturday. The Penmen are now 12-7 overall and 7-2 in league play, while Bentley is 7-10 and 7-2 in conference play.
Despite splitting in singles play, the Penmen dropped two out of three doubles matches to Bentley.
Juan Arango-Campo (Armenia Quindio, Colombia) and Evan Eaton (Winchester, Mass.) earned the lone Penmen point in doubles play with an 8-3 win at the No. 2 spot. Mitch Dobek (Westfield, Mass.) and Mike Wallace (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) lost a tight match in first doubles by a score of 9-7, and the No. 3 spot was defeated by a score of 8-1.
In singles play, Dobek, Arango-Campo, and Wallace prevailed in their matches for SNHU. Dobek defeated Rodrigo Ribeiro in a tiebreaker set at No. 1, while Arango-Campo defeated Jimmy Rindo by scores of 6-0, 6-2 at second singles. At No. 3, Wallace came out on top with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Kamil Pilch.
The match marked the team's final regular season match while finishing in a tie for second place in the Northeast-10. Playoff schedules and times are to be determined and will be announced at a further date.
