MANCHESTER, N.H. – Anthony
Fallacaro, the Director of Athletics at Post University
since September of 2006, has been named Director of Athletics and
Recreation at Southern New Hampshire University following a
national search. Fallacaro will begin his new duties May
27.
“Southern New Hampshire
University has a rich athletic tradition and I look forward to
building on that great foundation. It is very clear to me
that this is a great time to join the Penmen athletics family, and
I am looking forward to collaborating with our students, coaches,
alumni, administration and the local community to make Penmen
athletics something we can all be extremely proud of,” said
Fallacaro.
Fallacaro will oversee a growing
and successful athletic department at SNHU. The University
currently sponsors 16 varsity athletic programs, and recently
announced plans to offer four new sports over the next three years,
starting with women's golf in the 2013-14 academic
year. SNHU also plans to undertake an athletics facility
feasibility study in the near future. On the playing field in
2012-13, Penmen teams have captured three Northeast-10 Conference
championships (men's basketball, men's soccer,
women's soccer), while both the men's and women's
tennis teams reached their respective NE-10 finals. All five
of those teams reached their respective NCAA tournaments, the most
NCAA teams SNHU has had in a single academic year.
Additionally, 60% of SNHU student-athletes received at least a 3.0
grade point average in the Fall, 2012 semester.
“I would like to thank
President Dr. Paul LeBlanc, Provost Patricia Lynott, Dean of
Students Heather Lorenz and Associate Dean of Students Marlin
Nabors for providing me with this incredible opportunity,”
added Fallacaro. “The search process
for this appointment was one of the most professionally organized
and comprehensive proceedings I have experienced. It clearly
illustrates how important Penmen athletics is to the culture of the
University, and I take that responsibility very
seriously.”
At Post, an NCAA Division II
institution in Waterbury, Conn., Fallacaro oversaw a department
that offers 17 varsity intercollegiate programs. During his
tenure, the University added eight new sports (cheerleading, sprint
football, men's/women's lacrosse,
men's/women's outdoor track and field,
men's/women's swimming), established 12 new full-time
positions in the Department of Athletics, and oversaw extensive
renovations to LaMoy Field, Post's primary outdoor
competition and practice facility. Fallacaro established an
extensive corporate sponsorship program for Post athletics, signing
sponsorship contracts with several national and regional companies,
and managed solicitation of athletic alumni in the area of
fundraising.
On the field, Post teams captured
eight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) championships
during his tenure, and the Eagles had an average of 24 CACC
Academic All-Conference and 11 All-CACC selections per
year.
Prior to his arrival at Post,
Fallacaro served as Director of Athletics at Kingsborough Community
College (Brooklyn, N.Y.) during the 2005-06 academic year.
While there, he supervised an 11-sport program that competes in the
CUNY Athletic Conference and was responsible for scheduling, travel
and game contracts. He developed a corporate sponsorship
program that helped attract several national sponsors, as well as
developing recruiting materials for use by the department's
coaches.
From 2003-05, Fallacaro served as Assistant Athletic Director for
Athletic Programs at his alma mater, St. John's
University. While there, he focused on fundraising, serving
as a bridge between the athletic department and Institutional
Advancement. Fallacaro spearheaded a $25 million athletic
development campaign in which he organized over 50 fundraising
events during his tenure, and cultivated relationships with Red
Storm athletic alumni throughout the world.
A baseball student-athlete at St.
John's, Fallacaro got his start in athletics as an assistant
baseball coach at Manhattan College from 1995-1997 before returning
to his alma mater from 1997-99 in a similar capacity. Between
stints at St. John's, Fallacaro did a stint on Wall Street as
a supervisor on the trading desk at Investec Ernst &
Company.
Fallacaro graduated from St.
John's in 1994 with a degree in Athletic Administration.
