MANCHESTER, N.H. – Cody Cranor has
been named Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance at
Southern New Hampshire University, it was announced Tuesday.
Cranor will begin his new duties immediately.
Cranor will oversee all areas of
compliance with NCAA rules and regulations for SNHU and the
athletic department, including student-athlete eligibility.
He will execute NCAA bylaws and interpretations with athletic
department staff, and will serve as the point person for inquiries
to the NCAA and the Northeast-10 Conference in all compliance
areas.
Cranor has spent the last two years
as an NCAA compliance intern at Brigham Young University in Provo,
Utah, while also working towards his law degree at the BYU law
school, which he completed in April, 2013. While at BYU,
Cranor was responsible for drafting waivers to the NCAA for
legislative relief, medical hardship and student-athlete
reinstatement, utilizing the NCAAs online legislative database,
monitoring of recruiting and playing and practice activities and
NCAA rules education for BYU staff members.
A 2008 graduate of Idaho State
University with a degree in Physical Education-Sport Management,
Cranor went on to earn his master's from ISU in Athletic
Administration in 2010. While an undergraduate, Cranor was a
student assistant coach and assistant video coordinator with the
Bengal men's basketball program. While in Pocatello, he
also served as a legal intern at Racine, Olson, Nye, Budge and
Bailey from March-May 2010 and May-June 2011.
Cranor is a member of the National
Association for Athletics Compliance, the Sports Lawyers
Association, the American Bar Association and the J. Reuben Clark
Law Society.
