No. 2 Saint Rose Slips Past Women's Soccer

Box Score

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Jennifer Busk's goal in the 42nd minute proved to be the difference as second-ranked The College of Saint Rose edged Southern New Hampshire University 1-0 in Northeast-10 women's soccer action Saturday afternoon at Larkin Field.  The Golden Knights remained unbeaten on the season at 5-0 and 2-0 in NE-10 play, while the Penmen now stand 3-2-1 and 0-1-1 in the league.

On the lone goal of the game, Busk took a pass from Laura Taylor, who was standing at the top of the box, and from the left of the Penmen goal, fired a 25-yard blast that snuck inside the far right post past SNHU keeper Samantha Whittier (Sutton, Mass.) at the 41:49 mark.

Jessica Gerski made a pair of saves to preserve the shutout for Saint Rose, which outshot Southern New Hampshire 16-4 on the afternoon.  Whittier made four saves in goal for the Penmen.

Southern New Hampshire returns to action Tuesday night with a 7:00 contest at Merrimack College.  The next Penmen home game is Wednesday, October 2, when SNHU welcomes Stonehill College for a 7:00 game at Larkin Field.
