Box Score NEW HAVEN, Conn. – A pair of first half goals lifted Southern Connecticut State University to a 2-0 Northeast-10 women's soccer victory over Southern New Hampshire University Saturday at Jess Dow Field. The Owls improve to 2-5 and 1-4 in the league, while the Penmen are now 3-4-1 and 0-3-1 in NE-10 play.
Suzane Pires got the Owls on the board with her unassisted goal at the 9:32 mark. Southern Connecticut made it 2-0 4:45 before intermission when Hannah Spreckley scored off a corner kick by Pires.
Camille Fantini made six saves en route to the shutout, while SNHU keeper Samantha Whittier (Sutton, Mass.) recorded four saves. The Owls held a slight 12-11 shot advantage and have four of the game's five corner kicks.
Southern New Hampshire returns home Wednesday when it hosts Stonehill College in a 7:00 Northeast-10 contest at Larkin Field.
