MANCHESTER, N.H. – A goal by Megan Hanna (Chelmsford, Mass.) 1:30 into the contest proved to be the difference as Southern New Hampshire University edged Bentley University 1-0 in Northeast-10 women's soccer Tuesday evening at Larkin Field. The Penmen improved to 4-5-1 and 2-4 in the NE-10 with the victory, while the Falcons are now 2-9 and 0-8 in the league.
Hanna recorded her second goal of the season just 1:30 into the contest. An initial shot by Gabby Cappello (Andover, Mass.) was stopped, but Hanna collected the rebound and fired it home to give the Penmen an early advantage, one it would not relinquish.
Autumn Scanlon (Waltham, Mass.) was only forced to make one save en route to her third shutout of the season, while Falcon counterpart Deirdre Macrorie recorded a pair of stops. The Penmen outshot Bentley 11-5 on the evening, while the guests held a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action Thursday afternoon when it travels to Stonehill College for a 3:30 makeup contest.
