Women's Soccer Battles to 1-1 Draw in Season Finale

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Southern New Hampshire University and the University of New Haven battled to a 1-1 double overtime draw in Northeast-10 women's soccer Saturday afternoon at Kayo Field.  The Penmen see their season come to a close at 6-10-2 overall and 4-9-1 in NE-10 play, while the Chargers finish up 6-9-2 and 5-7-2 in the league.

Both of the game's goals came in the first half.  Just past the 28-minute mark, Tia Woodarek (Springville, N.Y.) notched her second goal of the season, with Alexa Poulin (Tewksbury, Mass.) assisting on the tally.  New Haven tied the game 1:31 before intermission when Amber Simms scored her sixth goal of the season.

SNHU's Autumn Scanlon (Waltham, Mass.) made five saves in goal, while New Haven's Moriah Saidel and Natasha Purchla split goalkeeping duties.  Saidel made one stop in the first half before Purchla made two saves the rest of the way.  The Chargers generated a 15-11 shot advantage on the afternoon and took seven corner kicks to one for the Penmen.
