HUMACAO, P.R. – The Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team opened its spring break trip to Puerto Rico with a 6-3 win over Augustana (Ill.) College Sunday morning. The Penmen upped their record to 7-2 on the season, while the Vikings are now 8-4.
SNHU took a 2-1 lead after doubles. Mike Wallace (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) and Mitch Dobek (Westfield, Mass.) were 8-5 winners at No. 1, while Juan Arango-Campo (Armenia, Quindio, Colombia) and Alex Mukdaprakorn (Hartford, Conn.) posted an 8-1 win at No. 2.
Dobek, Arango-Campo, Wallace and Mark Dobek (Westfield, Mass.) all posted singles wins to secure the victory for SNHU, with Mark Dobek prevailing 7-5, 5-7, 10-5 at No. 6.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action Monday when it faces the University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras.
