SYOSSET, N.Y. – Visiting Southern New Hampshire University nearly rallied from a 2-1 deficit after doubles play, but dropped a 5-4 Northeast-10 men's tennis decision to Adelphi University Saturday evening at SPORTIME. The Panthers improved to 4-4 and 3-0 in NE-10 play, while the Penmen saw a six-match win streak snapped and are now 12-3 and 4-1 in the league.
Trailing 2-1 after doubles, the Penmen got wins at the top three singles flights as they attempted to rally, but the Panthers would prevail at No. 4, 5 and 6 singles. Mitch Dobek (Westfield, Mass.) was a 7-5, 6-4 winner at No. 1, while Juan Arango-Campo (Armenia Quindio, Colombia) won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2. Mike Wallace (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) recorded a 6-0, 7-5 win at No. 3.
Dobek and Wallace were SNHU's only winners in doubles action, posting a 8-5 win at No. 1.
SNHU is idle until Tuesday, April 1 when it travels to Stonehill College.
