EASTON, Mass. – The Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team edged Stonehill College 5-4 in Northeast-10 action Tuesday afternoon at the Charles Watt Tennis Courts. The Penmen, ranked No. 7 in the ITA East Region rankings, improved to 13-3 and 5-1 in the NE-10, while the Skyhawks are now 9-5 and 5-2 in the league.
In doubles play, Mitch Dobek (Westfield, Mass.) and Mike Wallace (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) recorded an 8-1 win at No. 1, while Juan Arango-Campo (Armenia Quindio, Colombia) and Alex Mukdaprakorn (Hartford, Conn.) were 8-4 winners at No. 2. Dobek, Arango-Campo and Wallace clinched the win with singles triumphs at Nos. 1, 2 and 3, respectively.
SNHU dropped a pair of three-set decisions in singles action. Mukdaprakorn dell to Tom Alaimo at No. 4 5-7, 6-3, 17-15, while Mark Dobek (Westfield, Mass.) dropped a 4-6, 6-1, 6-0 decision at No. 6.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action Wednesday afternoon when it hosts Saint Michael's College in a 4:00 match.
