MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team downed American International College 8-1 in Northeast-10 action Sunday afternoon at the SNHU courts. The Penmen upped their record to 15-3 and 7-1 in the NE-10, while the Yellow Jackets are now 0-6 overall and in the league.
The 15 wins for SNHU establishes a program record for victories in a single season. The previous record was 14, set last season as the Penmen were 14-9.
Southern New Hampshire swept all three doubles matches and took five of six singles contest. Mitch Dobek (Westfield, Mass.) and Mike Wallace (Mount Vernon, N.Y.), the No. 7-ranked singles duo in the region, posted an 8-4 win at No. 1 over Cass Schwab and Boris Tiberkov. In singles play, Juan Arango-Campo (Armenia Quindio, Colombia) prevailed 6-4, 6-3 over Tiberkov at No. 2.
SNHU returns to action Wednesday afternoon when it travels to Division I Connecticut for a 3:30 match.
