No. 1 Saint Rose Blanks Women's Soccer 3-0

ALBANY, N.Y. – Carmelina Puopolo registered a hat trick for the top-ranked The College of Saint Rose women's soccer team as it posted a 3-0 win over Southern New Hampshire University Saturday afternoon at the Plumeri Sports Complex.  The Golden Knights upped their record to 6-0 and 2-0 in NE-10 play, while the Penmen are now 2-3-1 and 0-2 in the league.

Puopolo scored in the 19th minute to give the Golden Knights a 1-0 lead, then registered an unassisted tally at the 33:346 mark to put Saint Rose up 2-0, a lead it carried into halftime.  Puopolo finished off her hat trick 4:15 into the second half as she headed home a free kick by Jennifer Busk.

Ashley Homer made one save en route to the shutout for Saint Rose, while Penmen counterpart Autumn Scanlon (Waltham, Mass.) made six saves as the Golden Knights held a 20-2 shot advantage.  The hosts also took eight of the game's nine corner kicks.

Southern New Hampshire returns to action Wednesday night when it hosts Merrimack College in a 7:00 Northeast-10 contest at Larkin Field.
