Trisha Luis (Lowell, Mass.) scored twice in the second half as the Southern New Hampshire women's soccer team overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit to down American International College 3-1 Wednesday night.
Luis got the Penmen on the board at the 51:17 mark with her second goal of the season, with Rene Hamel (Wilbraham, Mass.) assisting on the tally. At the 62:03 mark, Luis made it 2-0 on a feed from Gabby Cappello (Andover, Mass.). Freshman Nerida Montrond (Brockton, Mass.) closed out the scoring in the 75th minute, with Morgan Branco (Norton, Mass.) registering an assist on the tally.
Alyssa Werbicki gave the Yellow Jackets a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute.
SNHU keeper Autumn Scanlon (Waltham, Mass.) made six saves, while AIC's Rachel Edgin turned aside four shots.
Notes:
- The three goals for SNHU are a season high.
- The Yellow Jackets held a 16-13 shot advantage, while SNHU took six of the game's seven corner kicks.
- Southern New Hampshire was playing its first road game of the season.
