Sophomore Ricardo Marreiros (Portugal) and graduate student Tiago Fernandes (Porto, Portugal) both earned singles victories, but the Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team lost to 24th-ranked Embry-Riddle University, 7-2, on Monday at the Crotty Tennis Complex.
With the Penmen trailing, 4-0, Marreiros fell behind to Rodolfo Arreygue at No. 2 singles after dropping the first set, 6-2. Marreiros stormed back, however, taking the second set, 6-3, before pulling out a grueling 14-12 win to earn the point.
Fernandes piggy-backed on that momentum with a 7-6 (7-5), 3-6, 10-6 marathon win against Luke de Caires at No. 4 singles.
Sophomore Xavier Aubron (Herouville, France) would drop a 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 decision to Juan Ortiz Couder at No. 3 singles, and Mickael Faucher would edge sophomore Sebastian Ramirez (Merida, Venezuela), 6-3, 6-4, to seal the win.
Notes:
 -In addition to being ranked 24th in the ITA National Rankings, Embry-Riddle is sixth in the tough South Region.
