Men's Tennis Rolls Over Saint Michael's, 9-0

The Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 victory against Saint Michael's College on Sunday afternoon at the SMC Tennis Courts.

The Penmen lost just two games in doubles play as sophomores Ricardo Marreiros (Portimao, Portugal) and Xavier Aubron (Herouville, France) pitched an 8-0 shutout at No. 2 doubles, while fellow sophomores Miguel Marreiros (Portimao, Portugal) and Tiago Fernandes (Porto, Portugal), as well as classmates Jeremy Reichentahl (Cheshire, Conn.) and Sebastian Ramirez (Merida, Valenzuela) posted 8-1 victories at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, respectively.

Ricardo Marreiros began singles play with a 6-1, 6-3 win out of the No. 1 slot against Ben Lambert, while Miguel Marreiros flipped the score against Charlie Merry at No. 2 singles to win 6-3, 6-1.

Aubron easily handed Sam Laves at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-2, with Fernandes dropping just a single game to Hayden Steward at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-0.

Reichentahl dispatched Dan Foley, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5, while graduate student Max Seiler (Munich, Germany) had the toughest match of the day against Patrick Dietz at No. 6 singles, but prevailed, 7-6 (9-7), 6-2.

Notes:
-SNHU has won nine of its last 10, including nine straight against Division II opponents.
-Ricardo Marreiros and Fernandes have captured nine straight singles matches against Division II foes, while Aubron has won seven straight.
-Southern New Hampshire is 10th in the latest Oracle/ITA Division II East Rankings.
-Ricardo Marreiros, Miguel Marreiros and Aubron are all ranked inside the top 20 among singles players in the region at 10th, 12th and 15th, respectively. Ricardo Marreiros and Aubron are the eighth-ranked doubles team in the region.
