ITA RELEASE
TEMPE, Ariz. – Ashley Loft (Leysin, Switzerland), recent Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis graduate, and Frank Campolo, assistant coach of the men's tennis team, were both recently honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association when it announced its 2015-16 regional award winners.
Loft was selected as the winner of the ITA East Region Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award, which recognizes outstanding individuals in all divisions at the regional and national level. This award, which dates back to 1982, goes to NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA and JUCO men's and women's players, who have exhibited outstanding sportsmanship and leadership, as well as scholastic, extracurricular and tennis achievements.
Loft, a hospitality business manager with a 3.46 GPA, went 17-5 in singles play this past season, including a perfect 12-0 in Northeast-10 action and 9-0 at No. 2. Loft was also 18-6 in doubles play, including 12-0 in Northeast-10 action and 12-5 at No. 1. Loft earned Northeast-10 All-Conference First Team honors at both No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles.
Campolo was chosen as the ITA East Region Assistant Coach of the Year after helping to guide the Penmen to a 14-8 record, including their first undefeated Northeast-10 slate at 10-0, as well as the first NE-10 Regular-Season Championship in program history. Campolo, along with NE-10 Coach of the Year Greg Coache, steered the Penmen to their second NE-10 title and the program's fifth appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
