Junior Xavier Aubron (Herouville, France) and freshman Bas Van Biezen (Sassenheim, Netherlands) lost just three combined games all day as the Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team blanked Colby-Sawyer College, 9-0, to open the season Thursday. 

Aubron was a 6-2, 6-0 winner at No. 4 singles against Andrew Peloquin, while Van Biezen, in his first collegiate singles match, easily took care of Ross Kenney, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 5. Together, the duo made it a quick 8-0 victory against Kenney and Alex Wright at No. 2 doubles.

Wright played reigning Northeast-10 Rookie of the Year Ricardo Marreiros (Portimao, Portugal) tight in the opening set of their No. 1 singles match, before falling, 7-5. Marreiros then came back in the second set and posted a 6-2 win to take the match. The junior teamed with classmate Jeremy Reichentahl (Cheshire, Conn.) for an 8-4 No. 3 doubles triumph against Ryan Sawyer and Will Triebel. 

Reichentahl cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Matt Burke at No. 6 singles.

Junior Tiago Fernandes (Porto, Portugal) captured his No. 2 singles tilt with Gustav Jigrup in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, and combined with classmate Miguel Marreiros (Portimao, Portugal) to double up Jigrup and Peloquin, 8-4. 

Miguel Marreiros defeated Sawyer, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 3 singles.

Notes:
-This marked the fifth straight year the Penmen have been victorious in their season opener.

The Penmen return to action Friday, Sept. 16 when they play host to Le Moyne College in the Northeast-10 opener at the SNHU Tennis Courts.
