Junior Xavier Aubron (Herouville, France) and freshman Bas van Biezen (Sassenheim, Netherlands) posted a big win at No. 2 doubles, but the Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to Boston College on Sunday at the Flynn Recreation Complex.
Aubron and van Biezen rolled to a 6-0 shutout of Kent Mukai and Sean Mullins, as the Penmen trailed, 2-1, exiting doubles play. Juniors Ricardo Marreiros (Portimao, Portugal) and Miguel Marreiros (Portimao, Portugal) nearly stole one at No. 1 doubles, losing to Aidan McNulty and Derek Austin, 6-4.
Junior Tiago Fernandes (Porto, Portugal) looked to keep the good times rolling for SNHU as he played Hank Workman tough at No. 1 singles, eventually dropping a 7-6 (7-5) first set, before falling, 6-2, in the second.
Notes:
-The loss snaps the Penmen win streak to begin the season as they started 6-0 for the first time ever.
-SNHU is ranked fourth in the Oracle/ITA East Regional Rankings.
