Freshman Adam Courtemanche (Greenville, R.I.) picked up his first victory against a Division II opponent and recorded the first doubles win of his career as the Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team blanked Franklin Pierce University, 9-0, Wednesday afternoon at the FPU Tennis Courts.
Courtemanche teamed with junior Jeremy Reichentahl (Cheshire, Conn.) to sweep Dan Longtin and Logan Sherwood, 8-0, at No. 3 doubles. Juniors Tiago Fernandes (Porto, Portugal) and Ricardo Marreiros (Portimao, Portugal) combined on an 8-2 No. 1 doubles victory over James Bisazza and Andrew Schadt, while fellow juniors Miguel Marreiros (Portimao, Portugal) and Xavier Aubron (Herouville, France) had to work a little harder, but pulled out an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles against Olivier Viel and Matthew Toombs.
Courtemanche, who recorded his first career singles win against Emerson College back on Feb. 18, toppled Trevor Jones, 8-3, at No. 6 singles.
Fernandes was a 6-3, 6-3 winner versus Bisazza at No. 1 singles, while Ricardo Marreiros did not drop a game at No. 2, defeating Viel, 6-0, 6-0. Miguel Marreiros took down Toombs, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 3 singles, with Aubron rolling to a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at the No. 4 spot against Longtin. Reichentahl captured his No. 5 singles match against Sherwood, 6-2, 6-3.
Notes:
-The Penmen have now won two-in-a-row and extend their NE10 winning streak to 13 straight, dating back to Oct. 15, 2015.
-SNHU is ranked fourth in the Oracle/ITA East Regional Rankings.
