The Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team extended its Northeast-10 winning streak with a 9-0 victory against Saint Michael's College on Saturday afternoon at the SNHU Tennis Courts.
Southern New Hampshire held a commanding 3-0 lead heading to singles play as juniors Tiago Fernandes (Porto, Portugal) and Ricardo Marreiros (Portimao, Portugal) defeated Forrest Owen and Dan Foley, 8-3, at No. 1 doubles, fellow juniors Miguel Marreiros (Portimao, Portugal) and Xavier Aubron (Herouville, France) doubled up Ben Lambert and Patrick Dietz, 8-4, at No. 2 doubles and junior Jeremy Reichentahl (Cheshire, Conn.) and freshman Adam Courtemanche (Greenville, R.I.) held off Hayden Steward and Matt Mosher, 8-5, at No. 3.
Fernandes breezed past Lambert, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 1 singles, while Ricardo and Miguel Marreiros scored 6-1, 6-1 victories at No. 2 against Dietz and No. 3 versus Foley, respectively. Aubron made quick work of Mosher, 6-0, 6-1, in the No. 4 slot.
Reichentahl notched an 8-3 pro-set victory at No. 5 singles against Hayden Steward, while Courtemanche blanked Jake Remillard, 8-0, at No. 6.
Notes:
-The Penmen have now won five-in-a-row and extend their NE10 winning streak to 16 straight, dating back to Oct. 15, 2015.
-SNHU is ranked fourth in the Oracle/ITA East Regional Rankings.
